NOW SHIPPING! 64 Pages of the Japanese Night.
I shoot what 16-year-old me could only stare at.
I shoot what 16-year-old me could only stare at.
The ladies. The dangerous nights. The people who didn't belong anywhere — or belonged everywhere.
I was never supposed to be there. So I brought a flash.
Five weeks. No newsletter. I was in the streets — Tokyo, Osaka — shooting. I thought about you the whole time.
You stayed. Through five weeks of nothing in this inbox. That's not nothing to me.
And in that silence, I made something. A zine that feels less like a project and more like a mixtape.
That's DARKROOM IN USE.
64 pages. Signed. Printed in Japan. Ships worldwide from Tokyo.
There's a world most people walk past.
Some of them are under the spotlight — performing, glowing, owning the night. Others are just there, in the dark, between the drinks, at the edge of something they can't name. This zine holds both.
Most of these shots were taken this past fall and winter. Shot, developed, straight in — like tracks on a mixtape.
No waiting, no second-guessing. Just what I saw, what I felt, what I couldn't leave on the roll.
Almost everything was shot on TRI-X 400, pushed to ISO 3200. The grain gets heavy. The contrast gets brutal. This is the Japanese night.
Bonus: Anaglyph print + 3D glasses included.
A zine is a physical thing.
It should do something a screen can't.
So inside every copy, there's an anaglyph print — the kind you need 3D glasses to see properly. Those are included too. Put them on. See what I saw.

This newsletter turns two in August. Two years. Somehow it went fast.
Over that time, making this newsletter has pushed me deeper into what zines can actually be — not just self-publishing, but a form of expression that only works because it's a zine.
Going forward, I want to explore that more. The experimental side. The weird side. The side that asks what a zine can do that nothing else can.
For example — what do you think about a zine you can't see?
More on that next week. See you then.
